For several years, my musician friend Elizabeth Pendleton (aka Awakening Queen Maebh) has been working directly with NICIE (Northern Ireland Council for Integrated Eduction) in Belfast to promote ongoing programs in 'integrated (mixed Catholic and Protestant)' schools designed to foster tolerance and dialogue between the two historically combative communities and bring about an end to the sectarian violence that claimed over 3,500 lives during the Troubles.
